Advantages of Raw Food Diets

Raw food diets come with a few advantages. First and foremost, on an individual level, such a diet comes with many health benefits.
Other plus points? Raw food is not cooked or processed, and thus uses little or no electricity, gas or oil to prepare. This saves you some money.
These advantages, together with the fact that raw foods normally require minimal, if any, packaging, help contribute to a healthier environment, too.
You will also save some time on food preparation, since there is no need to cook.
On the surface, it seems as though cooked food tastes better than raw foods. I, too, feel this way. But I do wonder how accurate this viewpoint is.
If you think about it, raw fruits, vegetables and other plant foods have a unique taste. I'm not quite sure how to describe it - it's crisp, it's fragrant, it's sweet, it's fresh, it's refreshing, it's juicy. All in all, it's flavorful.
But when food is cooked, it loses a lot of its taste and flavor. It becomes dull and lifeless, sometimes soft and mushy. We then add lots of spices, salt, sugar, pepper, chili sauce, tomato ketchup, artificial flavorings, etc to make it tasty. And then we think cooked food tastes the best.
Hmmm - isn't this all a bit strange, a bit warped even?
Finally, arguably, the recipes in a raw foods diet inspire more creativity than cooked dishes. If you are interested in making raw food a big part of your diet, you may want to think about learning some new raw food recipes.
