A note about Learning about Baby Diarrhea - Information and Treatment Tips
In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.
In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.
How To Tell If Its Baby Diarrhea
In some cases, it can be difficult to distinguish if it's diarrhea or just regular passing of stool from the baby. The best way to assess this is to compare it to what's normal for your own child. Typically, right after the baby has consumed breast milk, the stool will be softer, so keep that in mind.
If you've recently changed something about the baby's diet as well, that too can influence the hardness of the stool. If neither of these factors is present, however, then there is a pretty good chance that something is going on.
The Possible Causes and Triggers
There are a number of different causes of baby diarrhea, with both viral and bacterial infections coming into play. When it's a virus, you're also likely to find that your baby may be vomiting, experiencing abdominal pain, or running a fever. On the other hand, when it's bacterial, the baby could be suffering from cramps or blood in the stool.
Check for these other symptoms so you will best know how to go about treatment. Also note that in some babies, too much juice can also cause diarrhea, so if it is happening on a regular basis and your baby consumes a high amount of juice, try eliminating this for a week or two and see if it makes a difference.
How To Treat Baby Diarrhea
If your baby does in fact have diarrhea, then you could treat it using the B.R.A.T method, which stands for bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast.
All of these foods will be easy on the system and help to bulk up the stool, stopping the baby diarrhea.
Some other good foods that you might consider include pasta, white potatoes, and yogurt. The foods you want to avoid are dairy products, peaches, pears, plums, and apricots, as well as other foods that are very high in fiber and could produce more stool.
Finally, if your baby is refusing food entirely, then try not to get too stressed, but try and get him or her to drink some water. It is important that the baby stays hydrated as this will be key to a fast recovery.
By keeping these tips in mind, you can be sure your child recovers from baby diarrhea as quickly as possible.
