A note about Canker Sore on Tongue - Causes, Symptoms, Remedies for Relief

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

You should know that canker sore on tongue are not caused by any type of virus and they are not contagious at all. All this knowledge isn't making the pain of your canker sore go away, though, so here are a few tips to help you obtain relief.

Treat the pain

Many people who suffer from canker sore on tongue choose an over the counter product which will ease the pain and help to disinfect the surrounding area. Many products which contain benzocaine can be helpful in relieving pain because they numb the area. Benzocaine is commonly used in dental and medical procedures as a local anesthetic and, when used as recommended, it is considered perfectly safe.

However, if you don't have any benzocaine products, you may want to consider crushing an aspirin and applying a bit to the canker sore on tongue. This is a fairly common pain relief practice and many people report that it works.

Treat the sore

While you are working to treat the pain you’re experiencing from the canker sore on your tongue, you should also consider treating the sore to speed its healing. Swishing with salt and baking soda mixed with water at least once daily can help clean the mouth and speed the healing of your tongue.

You might also want to consider dabbing some honey on your canker sore on tongue. Honey is known to be antibacterial and is a great natural way to speed healing of the tongue. Plus, it tastes much better than some of the alternatives you might be considering. You can use it as often as you like, and you might find that your tongue feels better sooner with this treatment than it would if you chose to do nothing.

Some people choose to swish with hydrogen peroxide, which you can do for a while, but you shouldn't use this remedy for too long, as the continuous use of peroxide has been found to have some negative side effects. However, as a short term antiseptic, this is a great low cost option.

If you find that you commonly suffer from canker sore on tongue, you might want to consider switching to toothpaste which doesn't contain sodium lauryl sulfate. This is the ingredient which makes the product foamy and isn't necessary. Most commonly, making a simple change such as this can make a big difference in how often you experience any kind of canker sores, not just those on the tongue.
