Common Chlamydia Symptoms and Signs

What are typical chlamydia symptoms and signs?

Almost 90% of men and women who contract chlamydia suffer no symptoms. As a result, it is known as the silent epidemic. Not only does it display no symptoms, it can linger for years without being discovered.

A recent survey showed that of the over 14,000 people between 18 and 26 who were tested for chlamydia infection, 1 (one) out of every 25 was infected. Teenage girls are particularly susceptible, because their cervixes are not fully developed, and are believed to account for as many as 45% of those aged 15 to 20 diagnosed with chlamydia.

From the time of exposure to chlamydia and the onset of chlamydia symptoms, known as the incubation period, days or months can pass. If symptoms do appear, it is generally 1 to 3 weeks after a person has sexual contact with an infected person.

A note about Common Chlamydia Symptoms and Signs

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

In women, these chlamydia symptoms may present in several ways - as few as one or two, or several in combination. Urination patterns can change and become cloudy or painful to initiate; there may be a urinary urgency as well. There may be fever and / or general tiredness, lower abdominal pain, genital itching, or swollen, painful glands / lymph nodes at the opening of the vagina. There could also be an unusual vaginal discharge, abnormal bleeding during or after sexual intercourse or even between periods, as well as irregular menstrual bleeding.

About 50% of the men with chlamydia have symptoms; chlamydia symptoms and signs are more prevalent in men. They, too, can experience cloudy urine, a painful / burning while urinating, fever, itching, and / or swollen or tender testicles. Men sometimes suffer an unusual discharge - watery or slimy, from the penis, as well as crusting at its tip and / or tender scrotum or anus. If left untreated, chlamydia can spread to the testicles and, in very rare cases, cause sterility.

In both men and women, chlamydia can spread to the rectum, but again, rarely causes chlamydia symptoms, nor does it cause long term harm if treatment takes place before complications (inflammation of mucous membrane of rectum) can develop - this is especially true for those who engage in anal sex. Joint or an eye disease known as conjunctivitis can take place in both genders, spread by touching an infected area and then the face and eyes.

Once chlamydia has been cured, there is no guarantee from future infection. Having chlamydia also increases the risk of its sufferers becoming infected with HIV if exposed.

Natural Treatments and Herbal Remedies for Chlamydia

Medicine is available - usually, just a single dose of antibiotics is needed, but for those who prefer natural remedies, try usnea - it's a cross between a moss and an algae. Used by Native Americans, usnea (also called old man's beard) helps the respiratory system as well as the reproductive system. It has been shown effective against such viruses as HIV and works equally well with bacteria such as chlamydia.

The immune system can be strengthened with goldenseal because of its broad based substances which possess anti microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, particularly berberine, which can completely destroy chlamydia. Echinacea also kills a wide variety of infections, including yeast, viral and bacterial, plus it strengthens the immune system in general.

If you display chlamydia symptoms and signs and suspect you have the condition, you may wish to consider the use of these natural remedies.
