Sea Salt Cleanse - What It Is, Health Benefits, Procedure, Adverse Reactions, and More

What is a sea salt cleanse and what does it involve?

Although there are many commercial medications on the market claiming to act as laxatives or cleanses, using a sea salt cleansing protocol is a natural way to rid your body of toxins and to promote your overall health.

Sea salt is unlike normal processed salt due to the fact that is contains health enhancing minerals. While drawing out impurities from your system, it can also add vital minerals that you might have been lacking. However, it should be noted that a sea salt cleanse is not for everyone, and it should be avoided by those who have cancer, ulcers, and severe digestive conditions.

Health Benefits

There are many benefits to a cleansing routine using sea salt. An improvement of your digestive tract can also lead to an improvement of your overall mood and disposition. In addition, you could experience an increase in energy. Sea salt has been used as a natural health remedy for colds in the past and could improve sinus and respiratory functions. Clearer skin, fresher smelling breath, and reduced muscle pain can also be added benefits of the sea salt cleanse.

Sometimes, a sea salt detox is used as a laxative in order to help cleanse out the toxins in your digestive system. This can be particularly helpful if you suffer from constipation, or think that you might have parasites in your body.

Procedure - How to Do It

One way of preparing the sea salt cleanse is to combine 2 quarts of warm water with 2 teaspoons of unrefined sea salt. Adding lemon juice to the mixture might make it easier to swallow. It is best to drink the mixture first thing in the morning. Occasionally, individuals have difficulty swallowing the mixture, so it is important not to drink it too quickly, but to take your time.

During the first few days of the cleanse, you might find that it takes a while to empty your bowels. For that reason, you should stay in close proximity to a restroom. After getting used to the mixture, however, you should expect to be able to empty your bowels in a couple of hours.

The sea salt cleanse can be continued indefinitely, but during the first week, the mixture should be consumed every day; during the second week, it should be consumed every other day; and during the third week, it should be consumed every third day. After the fourth week, should you choose to continue the cleanse, you can take it once a week.

Side Effects and Adverse Reactions

Some side effects that you might experience in the beginning are headaches and an upset stomach. Drinking the mixture slowly and going to the restroom as soon as you feel the need are very important. The headaches should subside after a couple of days on the sea salt cleanse.

During the cleanse, it is also important not to eat any spicy, fried, or heavy foods, and not to consume any alcohol. When you finish the cleanse, it is equally important to add these foods back into your diet gradually, and not all at once, for this can upset your digestive system.
