Herbal Athlete's Foot Cure - Garlic

by Webmaster, All4NaturalHealth.com

If you are searching for a natural, simple and effective athlete's foot cure, you may want to consider giving garlic a try.

Garlic is a powerful antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and anti-parasitic herb or food. It has been used for such purposes for literally thousands of years, in different cultures spanning the various continents. Garlic is not only extremely potent, it is relatively cheap and readily available, too.

For treating athlete's foot, there are several ways to use garlic.

Topical or External Application of Garlic

After washing and thorough drying, a few drops of garlic oil can be rubbed onto the infected areas of one's foot or feet. For better effect, the oil should be massaged onto the affected parts. The oil can be obtained by breaking garlic capsules.

A note about Herbal Athlete's Foot Cure - Garlic

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

Raw garlic can also be crushed and then applied topically to the affected areas. Garlic is a potent antifungal agent, and for maximum effect, it needs to be used raw. Further, the use of organic garlic would be ideal. The garlic will sting a little, but this makes for a very simple herbal athlete's foot cure.

Traditionally, the Chinese would steep a few cloves of crushed garlic in olive oil for a couple of days, and then use the resultant mixture (after straining out the solid parts) as a topical application on the affected areas.

Crushed cloves of garlic can also be placed in warm water, and the feet soaked in this solution using a basin. Such a footbath could help alleviate the symptoms of athlete's foot.

The above topical uses of garlic as a natural herbal athlete's foot cure are simple home remedies which can be carried out by anyone. One thing to note, though - for the above approaches, as the pungent odor of garlic can be an issue, application just before bedtime may be a good idea. Alternatively, you could use these remedies on a day whereby you have no outdoor plans and are staying at home. If you don't mind the pungent garlic smell following your feet around, then there is no problem at all.

Additionally, trials conducted using creams which contain ajoene, a compound found in garlic, saw this agent performing better than conventional drugs in treating athlete's foot; in fact, such cream was able to completely cure the condition.

Internal Consumption of Garlic

Any effective natural athlete's foot cure should also strengthen your system internally. Thus, raw garlic should also be taken internally to give your immune system and your body's fungal killing powers a boost.

3 to 6 large cloves of raw, organic garlic is a decent daily dose. Warning - garlic has a pungent odor, which will not only affect your breath, but also literally permeate through your entire body and even cause your skin to smell. As garlic is a strong herb, it may also antagonize your digestive system.

A good, commonsensical approach when using it would be to start slow and gradually increase your dosage as your body gets used to it. Garlic is an excellent herb, and a wonderful addition not just to a comprehensive athlete's foot cure protocol, but also to any health-promoting diet and lifestyle.
