Natural Cure for Erectile Dysfunction - Important Tips

Are you seeking a natural cure for erectile dysfunction (ED), also referred to as impotence?

Erectile dysfunction can generally be banished from your life completely by following some holistic healing techniques and natural remedies; these include lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, stress reduction, and the addition of a few natural supplements.

After consultation with your health practitioner, adopt the following healthy lifestyle changes: quit smoking, curb alcohol consumption, begin a consistent exercise routine, reduce stress, and try one of the natural erectile dysfunction treatments available such as herbal remedies, natural nutritional supplements, and acupuncture.

Therapy or marriage counseling, too, may prove helpful as a cure for erectile dysfunction in patients whose ED cannot be traced to physical abnormalities or physical health problems.

A note about Natural Cure for Erectile Dysfunction - Important Tips

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

Smoking cessation has been shown to improve cardiovascular health, which in turn positively impacts sexual health and the ability to have or sustain an erection.

Regular exercise improves circulation of the blood and lowers blood pressure. In addition, it has been shown to boost self-esteem and self-image. You will need to be sure your program incorporates at least 30 minutes of exercise on most if not all days of the week. Indeed, regular exercise is an important part of any natural cure for erectile dysfunction.

Stress reduction will not only diminish the feeling of inadequacy that may follow episodes of erectile dysfunction, but it can also combat conditions that have been shown to cause the condition, such as anxiety or depression. Techniques include meditation, breathing exercises, guided relaxation, or visualization and related imagery methods.

Also, be sure to focus on generally sound health practices such as cultivating a positive attitude, accepting events out of your control, practicing assertion rather than aggression, and keeping to a regular sleep schedule. Mental and physical fatigue can negatively impact sexual health, and will exacerbate feelings of stress. These are not just elements of a natural cure for erectile dysfunction, but of any health-promoting lifestyle.

Sex therapy or marriage counseling may also prove useful to patients who suffer from erectile dysfunction as a result of mental inhibitions or thought disturbances. Assignments given during therapy may include education on sexuality, developing a closer personal bond with the intimate partner (which diminishes feelings of inadequacy or the need to “perform”), and dialogues which help practice better communication in and out of the bedroom. To the greatest extent possible, the man’s partner should be involved in the therapy. In order to be effective, therapy must generally last several weeks.

Nutrition plays a key role in a natural cure for erectile dysfunction, too, and nutritional supplements that have been used with much success to treat ED include vitamin E, vitamin C, the amino acid arginine, and flaxseed meal.

Herbal remedies which could help in such a cure for erectile dysfunction include, most notably, ginseng and the panacea ginkgo biloba.

In Chinese medicine, acupuncture has helped some men with erectile dysfunction.

Other Methods

Though not as natural as the therapies described and sometimes more invasive, other treatment modalities exist that have been proven to cure erectile dysfunction. One such example of a cure for erectile dysfunction is hormone therapy, which can raise testosterone levels and thus improve both sexual drive and erection frequency and consistency.

Some men report success with VCDs (vacuum constriction devises) that manually bring blood to the penis in order to maintain erection. The device can be used for up 30 minutes, though some bruising or swelling may occur. In addition, the erection achieved does not have the same appearance nor sensation as a natural erection, though ejaculation and orgasm remain unchanged.

Some men choose to have a medical procedure in which surgeons implant a penile prosthesis, which can either be malleable or inflatable. The simplest device causes the penis to be in a state of constant semi – erection; lifting the penis up slightly causes a full erection. Many men opt for an inflatable or hydraulic prosthesis, which looks much more natural cosmetically.

The implants tend to only be recommended if all other methods, both natural and conventionally medical, have failed. A man who has the procedure done but later decides to have the prosthesis removed may never again be able to sustain a natural erection, as some of the sensitive nerves in the penis become irreparably damaged during the procedure.

Another surgical procedure generally reserved for young men who have sustained some sort of blunt trauma or damage to the pelvic area (specifically affecting the blood vessels of the penis) is vascular reconstructive surgery. The surgery generally involves bypassing blocked arteries by transferring an artery located in the abdominal muscle down to the penile artery. This creates a path of blood flow which can evade the blocked artery that has inhibited proper blood flow to the penis and thus negatively affected erections prior to surgery.

In addition to being quite invasive, the success rate for this particular surgery as a cure for erectile dysfunction has been somewhat disappointing overall, though for the specific target group (young men with a very specific type of injury, often sports-related), the success rate falls between 50 and 75%.
