A note about the Health Benefits of Cayenne Pepper

Herbs are God and nature's gifts to us. While the use of herbs and herb remedies has brought excellent results for many people, do note that their health benefits may be limited when they are used in isolation. However, when combined with some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition, the impact on one's health will be greatly magnified.

In natural health and healing, we believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases. We also believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man’s understanding. It is thus a good idea to apply these fundamental health steps no matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem.

The main ingredient of cayenne peppers is the substance that is termed capsaicin, which is responsible for the attribute of spiciness and for the pepper being hot. Quite contrary to this, it is the very same substance capsaicin which is responsible for the cayenne health benefits that the cayenne herb is popular for and the effect it has on soothing the digestive tract during illness.

Cayenne pepper is also used as a generic medicine for a multitude of other conditions like migraines, fever, sprains and muscle cramps.

The topical cayenne health benefits are pronounced in conditions where blood flow improvement is required.

The health benefits of cayenne pepper as felt by various systems of the human body are listed as follow:

  • Cayenne is an effective remedy for digestive tract ailments such as stomach cramps, acidity, reflux and gas. For digestive problems, cayenne capsules may be taken three times daily in the dosage of 30 to 120 mg.

  • Capsaicin and other chemical substances found in cayenne work at increasing body temperature and blood circulation, thereby working as an effective remedy for certain circulatory system ailments. Cayenne helps to thin the blood and thereby improves blood circulation.

  • Cayenne not only improves circulation, but it also does its part to ensure quick and uniform distribution of the active elements of various nutrients to all the important parts and function centers of the human body. Thus, one of the most important health benefits of cayenne pepper is that its use can thus greatly boost the effectiveness of other herbs or foods which one is consuming. This is why Dr Schulze includes cayenne pepper in a lot of his herbal formulas; he calls cayenne the 'carrier herb'.

  • Cayenne benefits also include providing relief to rheumatic and arthritic pains. The capsaicin that is present in the cayenne herb, which accounts for a significant part of the health benefits of cayenne pepper, is used in pepper sprays. It is also beneficial in relieving pain and itching because it works on the sensory nerves. Capsaicin makes certain neurotransmitters release themselves from the sensory nerves, leading to their depletion. Once these neurotransmitters are released and depleted, pain signals are no longer transmitted and so you will feel no pain. This way, cayenne provides relief from rheumatic and arthritic pains.

  • Another of the health benefits of cayenne pepper is in providing relief from throat pain or sore throats. To do so, cayenne can be mixed in water and used for an effective gargle.

  • Cayenne is also used as a styptic and this is one of its most traditional uses, as a powerful coagulant. If you get a serious cut which is bleeding badly, apply cayenne pepper directly onto the wound. The cayenne balances blood pressure and coagulates the blood, thus helping the wound to heal quickly. Cayenne is also a potent disinfectant, so it will, at the same time, effectively put out any potential infection. For the health benefits of cayenne pepper in wound-healing and disinfectation, the cayenne herb, preferably in powder of tincture form, is a must-have in all First Aid kits.

  • In addition, cayenne powder is used as a thermogenic in colder climates to provide heating, for example to the feet and toes by putting it in the boots or socks.

  • Along with the other constituents contained in cayenne, including capsaicin, improvements have been seen to reducing platelet stickiness and acting as antioxidants, in several cases.

A Constipation Home Remedy Cayenne Pepper

Cayenne has traditionally been used in homes as a handy remedy for constipation since it stimulates peristalsis and improves digestion. It is suggested that cayenne be used at every meal or as when needed for constipation.

As a constipation remedy cayenne capsules can be used. Initially, slight burning and discomfort may be felt in the stomach, which is an indication that the cayenne is having the desired effect. This burning sensation will cease to be an issue as the body gets acclimatized to using cayenne.
