A note about Useful Herbs for Lungs
In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.
In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.
If you are still eating unhealthy, getting awful nutrition, and inhaling toxic chemicals, you can drink all the lung herb tea you want, and it probably isn't going to do a whole lot. However, herbs for lungs can be used along with natural health programs to boost the process. Keep in mind that using beneficial lung herbs is only the icing on the cake; they are not the cake itself.
Mullein grows abundantly in many parts of the world, including the northwestern plains of the United States. It is one of the best herbs for the lungs and the glands. The parts used are the flowers and the stems. Use this herb in tea or tincture form.
Essential oils can be an effective delivery system for getting herbs into the lungs through inhalation. You can inhale essential oils directly, or you can use a humidifier. Eucalyptus and peppermint are antibacterial and healthy herbs for lungs. Clove, rosemary, cinnamon, frankincense, and myrrh are also beneficial for the respiratory system. As with most herbal preparations on the market, there are many essential oils of inferior quality. Only high quality essential oils will have any therapeutic effect in contributing to healthy lungs.
Castor Oil Packs
While messy, castor oil packs are highly beneficial for breaking up congestion and drawing toxins. Patients that use castor oil packs during the healing of lung cancer will usually wake to find the castor oil pack stained black and brown from all the toxins that have been drawn out. People who do not have any debilitating lung issues, but simply want healthier lungs, may not want to use something as messy as castor oil as their herbs for lungs.
But for people who do have such a condition, regular castor oil packs will provide immense benefit. To make a castor oil pack, you simply soak multiple layers of cotton cloth in the oil. The packs can be warmed before use, but never heat the oil beyond a temperature that will burn the skin, as this can destroy some of the properties. Place the soaked cloth over the affected area, and wrap with cloth, gauze, and plastic wrap.
Lymphatic System Cleansing
Besides using certain herbs for lungs, having a clean lymphatic system is important for cleaning toxins out of the lungs. In order for the body to be able to flush the lymphatic system, the colon, kidneys, and liver must be clean. Skin brushing is one of the best ways to directly stimulate the lymphatic system. Use only brushes that are made of natural fibers.
