A note about Natural Stomach Flu Remedies - Home Help

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

Many people don’t realize that there are natural remedies for the stomach flu that can really help them. One of the first things you should take care against is dehydration. The symptoms of the stomach flu often cause you to lose more liquid than retain it. It’s important to allow the stomach to settle for a little while after initial symptoms, especially if you’re, well, still actively experiencing them. Try not to eat anything for a couple of hours. This will help to eliminate some of the less enjoyable effects of the stomach flu.

While you’re settling your stomach, however, it’s very important to drink clear liquids, as these tend to be the most comforting to the stomach. Work with things like apple juice and water, but sip them slowly so your stomach has time to adjust.

One of the possible stomach flu remedies is chamomile tea - consider drinking it to help soothe the condition. It is known to have antimicrobial properties, be a muscle relaxer and mild sedative, as well as helping with gas and bloating. For people who are allergic to ragweed, it might be necessary to use caution as you could be allergic to chamomile as well. Mint teas often work well in small doses as natural stomach flu remedies, when one is experiencing the ailment.

When you have the stomach flu, you’re only looking to recover from it. Initially, you will probably not feel much like eating, but once you can, you should try to eat mild things like dry toast and crackers. Crackers contain salt, which is an electrolyte that can be lost during the yuckkies. It’s important to replace sodium, as it can help to reduce dehydration.

Another thing that’s good to eat once you feel comfortable consuming food again is green bananas. They contain potassium which will need to be replaced and green bananas have been known to stop diarrhea.

Now, besides home stomach flu remedies, let’s also talk a little about prevention of the ailment. There are the usual things you can do, like washing your hands and making sure not to eat or drink after anyone who’s had the stomach flu. You can also make sure to keep your immunity up by eating right and having a good intake of vitamin C.

While you’re at it with preventing the flu, consider getting a workout in every now and then to keep yourself at your healthiest. And, consider using things like garlic, yogurt and blueberries in your diet.

Garlic serves as a great antimicrobial and antibacterial agent, while yogurt helps to boost the good bacteria count in your body, which helps to keep you healthier. Another possibility is to take probiotic supplements.

The blueberries work well as a diarrhea cure for young children. High in fiber and antioxidants, they not only help to keep you healthy, but they have been found to contain a substance that is thought to be deadly to E. Coli bacteria, and that’s always a plus.

We hope the natural stomach flu remedies and prevention tips highlighted in this article will prove useful to you.
