Using Weight Loss Smoothies to Lose Weight

Weight loss smoothies are becoming very popular, and with good reason - power smoothies really can promote weight loss.

Not only can they boost your energy and your metabolism, but they can also provide the essential vitamins and minerals that you need while at the same time curbing your appetite and reducing your urge to eat large meals.

Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but breakfast doesn't have to consist of a large amount of food, laboriously prepared for hours in the kitchen at the crack of dawn. Instead, it can consist of a healthy smoothie.

A smoothie that is high in protein can help keep the metabolism high, which in turn can give you a boost of energy that can take you all the way through lunchtime.

So, what are some good weight loss smoothies?

Homemade fruit smoothies are some of the most popular types of weight loss smoothies. By adding wheat germ or whey to the smoothie, you can get the extra protein and carbs that you need for energy. Wheat germ and whey can both be purchased in most health food stores and even in some larger "box" stores.

If you love bananas and strawberries, the one great weight loss smoothie that combines both fruits and protein is very simple to make and only takes a few minutes. You will need 1 frozen banana, 6 frozen strawberries, 1 1/4 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of protein powder, and 1 tablespoon of skim milk powder. All you have to do is mix all of the ingredients in either a smoothie maker or a blender and drink!

If you want to try to lose weight with smoothies, then you should start your day with a protein-rich smoothie that can boost your metabolism. You can even make it the night before and keep it in the freezer until you are ready to drink it the next morning.

For lunch, you should consume another smoothie. You can also add a bowlful of fresh fruit if you are still feeling a little hungry.

For dinner, you should focus on eating less than 600 calories and sticking to foods that are healthy. Simple carbs, such as a sweet potato, are preferable over complex carbs like white potatoes. You should also try to include a source of protein, such as beans, tofu, or broiled chicken breast.

Although you might see similar diets advertised that are pre-packaged, it's almost always better to make your own weight loss smoothies. When you make your own, you have more control over your sugar intake and the chemicals that are added to the smoothies. One popular liquid diet that is available on the market, for instance, works in a similar way as that of the smoothie, but the drink itself contains a lot of added sugars.

You should also combine your weight loss smoothie diet with a good exercise routine. If you are burning off more calories than you are consuming, then you will lose weight. It is important to stay active in order to have a healthy lifestyle.

You don't have to stick to fruit weight loss smoothies, either. For instance, if you have a fruit smoothie in the morning for breakfast, you can have a vegetable smoothie made out of carrots for lunch. For a carrot smoothie, you only need 2 cups of carrot juice, 1/2 cup of apple juice, 6 ounces of plain frozen yogurt, and 1 banana. Again, simply blend together and drink!
