A note about Chronic Bronchitis Symptoms and Signs

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

The signs and symptoms of chronic bronchitis are usually the same as those for acute bronchitis, but with chronic bronchitis, you won’t get better in a few days or so; if you suffer from anything chronic, it means that it lasts for three months or more.

People who suffer from chronic bronchitis may notice times when their cough gets worse and they begin to feel even more poorly. This usually means that they have gotten acute bronchitis, either bacterial or viral, on top of the chronic bronchitis they already have. If you smoke and you cough, it’s likely that your “smoker’s cough” is actually chronic bronchitis.

How do you know if you have chronic bronchitis? Many of the chronic bronchitis symptoms and signs are the same as those for acute bronchitis, but lasting for about three months or longer.

  • The main chronic bronchitis symptom is coughing with mucus. If you have a cough every day for longer than three months and it comes with mucus, you are likely living this condition.

  • Coughing gets much worse in wet weather or in the mornings.

  • You get lots of respiratory infections like the flu or colds, where the cough gets worse.

  • Shortness of breath that gets worse when you exert yourself.

  • Wheezing and fatigue are also chronic bronchitis symptoms.

  • Occasional chest discomfort

Smokers and Chronic Bronchitis

If you smoke and have chronic bronchitis, you should know that there is no medicine that will make this condition go away. It cannot and will not heal up with the use of antibiotics, although there are certain “inhalers” that can help your breathing temporarily; these help to open up the airways so that your bronchioles are not so tight, allowing you to breathe better. This is only a temporary fix, however, and not a long-term cure for chronic bronchitis.

Sometimes, in smokers, chronic bronchitis comes with emphysema, and, together, they form a condition called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), whereby the airways become narrowed. COPD is typically treated with inhaled medications and, sometimes, oral medications, too.

The best way to get rid of chronic bronchitis and its symptoms is to quit smoking. By stopping this habit, you will no longer be causing your airways to be irritated, and they can thus work on reversing the damage. After awhile, the coughing will subside, the lungs will begin to heal, and you will be able to breathe normally again - but only if you stop smoking.

Other Chemical Exposure

If you have chronic bronchitis because you are constantly exposed to lung irritating chemicals, then the only way to make your symptoms stop is to avoid further exposure to those substances - there are no two ways about it.

Conclusion

The good news is that you can be in charge of your health, and you can make it better by employing the right lifestyle and dietary choices as well as effective natural remedies. By doing so, you will be able to not only control your chronic bronchitis symptoms, but also make your condition better, too. It’s entirely up to you, and you can do it.
