As part of a home remedy for scabies, symptomatic relief from the condition can be obtained by adding oats to warm bath water to relieve itching.
Commercial bath soaps contain chemicals which can further exacerbate itching caused by scabies, so it is recommended that natural products be used for cleansing purposes and not commercial soap.
It is reported that onion is an effective antidote for itching caused by scabies. A halved onion should be scooped out at the center to create a hollow cavity. This is to be filled with coarsely ground sea salt. On dissolving of sea salt, the liquid remaining in the onion should be applied to the areas that itch. This is a simple home remedy for scabies symptoms, and it will relieve itching.
Herbal soap preparation for treatment of scabies
The ingredients required to prepare a herbal cleanser at home is a large block of vegetable oil soap, 1 ounce of chopped herbs, a few drops of essential oil of your choice, and one tablespoon of ground oatmeal.
The soap should be grated and the remaining ingredients are to be added to this. This mixture needs to heated on a low flame until fully blended. An egg container can be lined with wax paper, and the soap mixture is to be poured into the sections. Once dried, this makes an excellent natural soap for scabies treatment.
Margosa, Aloe Vera and Menthol for Scabies
An herb which is native to India, the margosa is reported to be very effective as a home remedy for scabies. Oil of Margosa applied on the itching parts by massaging it gently into the skin allows it to be absorbed.
A feature of the margosa oil is that it is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, and helps clear scabies mites.
Aloe vera which is commercially available in cream or lotion form is also said to be effective against scabies.
Menthol (active chemical constituent of mint), due to its cooling properties, provides a speedy cure for scabies. Ginger mint, peppermint and mountain mint can be used for this purpose.
