How to Burn Stomach Fat - Top Five Exercises Bicycle Crunch: Deemed the best ab exercise by the San Diego State University, this exercise will work all the muscles in your abdomen. Start by lying on your back on the floor or mat, put your hands behind your head and bring up your right knee as you left elbow works to meet it, and then alternate sides. You’ll feel this one working right away. Reverse Crunch: You know how a crunch has you lie on your back and lift your upper body off the floor? Well, this one has you lift your legs off the floor instead. So, you lie on your back with your arms flat at your sides and with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Then all you do is bring your knees up towards your chest at no more than a 90 degree angle and just let your ab muscles contract and do their thing. This is harder than it seems but so worth the burn. Alternating Superman: You know how Superman looks when he’s flying through the air? Well, get on the floor and into that same position so you're down on your belly with your arms stretched out in front of you. Next, raise your right arm and left leg off the ground a few inches (as long as it feels comfortable), hold for 3 or 4 seconds and repeat with the other arm and leg, alternating sides. This one is great for your abs and your lower back. Vertical Leg Crunch: Lie on your back with your hands behind your head for support and your legs extended up towards the ceiling. Then, squeeze or tighten your ab muscles as you bring head and shoulders up off the floor and towards your legs. Don’t hyperextend - we want to work your abs and keep your back safe! Super Vertical Leg Crunch: Some also call this ‘Up, Up and Away’. This is a tougher variation of the previous exercise that will really work those abs like nothing else. Lie on your back and raise your legs up with feet pointing towards the ceiling and slide your hands under your lower back. Next, use your hands to help you bring your butt and lower back up off the floor while trying to get your feet up even higher as you tighten your muscles. Hold for a couple of seconds, lower, and repeat. Some of these exercises to reduce abdominal fat may make you wish that you had never set out to learn how to burn stomach fat in the first place, but the results will make it all worth it in the end.
