A note about Tips on Influenza Prevention

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

The things that you’ll need to do in order to prevent the flu might seem like you’re making major lifestyle changes if you aren’t used to them, but when you aren’t sick and everyone else is, you’ll be glad you embraced the changes when you did.

  • Maybe this goes without saying, but the number one thing to do when you are working on influenza prevention is to stay away from people who are sick. It happens all the time that sick people go to work, so it’s up to you to keep your distance from them whenever possible.

  • If you have the flu, you should stay home and, if you must go out, make sure to cover your cough or your sneeze with your elbow. This will keep you from recontaminating yourself by covering your mouth and nose with your hands.

  • Here is a no brainer, but one that is often forgotten: don’t touch your face. Keep your hands away from your mouth, nose and eyes to prevent accidentally contaminating yourself with any flu germs you might encounter throughout your day.

  • Washing your hands regularly is another step for influenza prevention. Every time you use the restroom, before you eat, and whenever you touch stuff. Anything that others might touch, if you touch it, you need to make sure that you wash your hands afterward. If you cannot wash your hands, then use a natural hand sanitizer to kill any germs. But be careful not to be overly obsessive about this.

  • Watch what you eat. While it’s important to eat healthy foods, consider consuming more phytochemicals, or veggies that contain them, like red, yellow and dark green fruits and veggies. The nutrients in these fruits and veggies are so much healthier than simply taking vitamin pills, and they offer a great boost that no vitamin can offer. Indeed, nutrition is key in disease and influenza prevention.

  • Work out, work out, work out. Regular aerobic exercise helps get the blood flowing, and the increased circulation will help keep your immune system strong. Not to mention the stress reduction that regular exercise can offer, and that will also help to keep your immune system healthy. Exercise is another basic necessity for influenza prevention.

  • Get plenty of rest. If you are feeling tired or worn down, take the time to go to bed a little early. A couple of hours of extra sleep is much better than a couple of days out of work.

These are just a couple of things people can do to prevent the flu, but there is more you can do, such as making sure to disinfect your home and the things people touch every day to help eliminate flu germs that may go in and out of your home.

Don’t forget to get outside a lot everyday, either. This will help to combat the drying out that many people experience from being inside with heat all day. Plus, the fresh air will help you to feel better as well as rest better in the evening.

Ultimately, the key to influenza prevention is a strong body and optimally functioning immune system, and anything which keeps your immunity heightened will also help you to prevent the flu.
