A note about the Benefits of Flax Seed Oil
Herbs are God and nature's gifts to us. While the use of herbs and herb remedies has brought excellent results for many people, do note that their health benefits may be limited when they are used in isolation. However, when combined with some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition, the impact on one's health will be greatly magnified.
In natural health and healing, we believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases. We also believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Mans understanding. It is thus a good idea to apply these fundamental health steps no matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem.
Constituents of flax seed oil are omega-6 and omega-9 essential fatty acids, B vitamins, potassium, lecithin, magnesium, protein, and zinc. It also provides approximately 50% more omega-3 oils than what you could get from taking fish in the diet.
Flaxseed oil is mainly constituted of alpha linolenic acid (ALA). ALA is an Omega-3 fatty acid which is a precursor to EPA and DHA - fatty acids found in cold water fish such as salmon.
However, as not everyone can readily convert ALA into EPA and DHA, it would probably be a good idea not to rely solely on flax seed oil for one's requirement of Omega-3 fatty acids. Having said that, ALA does bring about health benefits of its own, and also aids in maintaining the balance of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids.
Barlean's Highest Lignan Flax Oil is a pure, unfiltered and unrefined source of essential Omega-3 fatty acids and nutrient-rich lignans and can be included in the diet as an excellent choice to reap the health benefits of flax seed oil.
Do note, however, that lignans are most available, freshest and most potent when obtained direct from freshly ground flax seeds. More information is available in the related articles discussing the health benefits of flax seeds.
