Do you wish to learn more about the candida cleanse diet, and what foods should be avoided while on this dietary plan?

With the many preservatives and toxins that our food now contains, it is important to occasionally give the body a chance to renew itself. Even for those who are particularly conscious of what they put into their body, cleansing can be a great way to allow the digestive tract to "have a break", thereby increasing its efficiency.

A note about Candida Cleanse Diet - Foods to Avoid

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

One such cleansing plan that has recently become popular is the "Candida diet". Because candida and bacteria function in a relationship that is in many ways symbiotic, excess candida in the intestines can cause problems. Thus, the candida cleanse diet allows the intestines and the organisms residing therein to replenish themselves.

Benefits

There are several potential benefits to a candida cleanse. For one thing, the decreased strain on the intestines can improve one's overall body function, thereby decreasing one's susceptibility to illness. Cleanses can also result in more efficient metabolism of food, and a reduced incidence of digestion-associated discomfort.

Moreover, a candida cleanse can remedy issues caused by too much yeast in the body, such as headaches, fatigue, mood swings, difficulty with concentration, excessive craving of sweets, yeast infections, bloating, indigestion, and other health problems. In particular, people who use oral contraceptives, steroids, antacids, anti-ulcer medications, or antibiotics frequently, are especially suited to this type of cleanse.

Foods to Avoid

The primary facet of a candida cleanse diet should focus on reducing or eliminating processed refined sugars and bleached flour altogether. In addition to this, it is wise to eliminate meats that are treated with hormones or chemicals, if not meat altogether. Hydrogenated fats should be cut out, as should processed / refined foods in general.

Whilst doing a candida cleanse diet, it is also important to focus on organic, nutrient-rich whole foods and raw vegetables.

Every person's body handles things differently, and it is no exception for candida cleansing. However, as the goal is to cleanse the body and restore a proper candida balance / presence, there are certain foods that are known to cause problems whilst candida cleansing and should therefore be avoided:

  • Aluminum containing foods - candida overgrowth is often associated with heavy metal toxicity; examples of foods to avoid on a candida cleanse diet include commercial salt, baking powder, and most antacids

  • Artificial ingredients

  • Aspartame and other artificial sweeteners

  • "Bad" oils and fats - hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils, cottonseed oil, soy oil, corn oil, safflower oil, canola oil, and any fats or oils heated to very high temperatures should be avoided while on a candida cleanse diet

  • Alcohol

  • Excess caffeine (varies greatly between people)

  • Fruit Juices

  • Sodas

  • Candies, cookies, cakes, and chocolates

  • Foods cooked in very high heat or overcooked foods

  • Canned or jarred vegetables and soups

  • Deli meats, hot dogs, sausages, etc. which contain nitrites, nitrates, MSG, or other artificial additives / preservatives

  • Sweet fruits

  • Most breakfast cereals

  • Refined grain products - anything made with white flour or white rice

  • Gluten grain breads - wheat, barley, oats, and rye

  • MSG

  • Moldy foods

  • Potatoes

  • Snack chips

  • Sodium nitrite

  • Sugar in any form

  • Thickeners

  • Vegetables high in carbohydrates - beets, carrots, corn, parsnips, potatoes, sugar snap peas, peas in a pod, sweet potatoes, yams, winter squash

Of course, not all of these foods will be problematic for everyone, but in general, many of them are not only unhealthy but will disrupt the candida cleanse. A good rule to remember is that candida feeds on carbohydrates, so foods that are high in carbohydrates (bread-type foods, starchy foods, sweet foods) should not be part of the candida cleanse diet.

Conclusion

Candida overgrowth is a problem for many people. Strangely, it is also somewhat under-diagnosed, because candida overgrowth can result in a variety of symptoms that may not easily be connected to the actual problem.

Thus, following a candida cleanse diet is an especially great idea for those who have had yeast problems in the past, or who are currently experiencing digestive or gastrointestinal difficulties. Even those who do not believe they have a yeast issue would be wise to try this cleanse, as it is a healthy plan for anyone and it comes with a number of potential health benefits.
