About Natural Body Detoxification and Cleansing

Under such circumstances, one's natural body detoxification mechanisms get hampered. As a result, the body gets slowed down by accumulated toxins over a period of time, clogging its system and bogging it down, and it begins to announce the symptoms of onset of disease, since toxins are being added to the system faster than it can burn or flush out. If this situation is not dealt with in a timely manner by detoxification and other healthy habits, disease and degeneration is inevitable.

To answer the question what to eat, Ayurveda recommends that it is best to have foods that are in-season for your geographic location, as these are Nature's gifts that are inherently designed to address the nutritional requirements of the season, thereby providing nourishment and nutrition in the right balance.
With regard to the question as to when one must eat, Ayurveda recommends three nutritional meals in the day that are wholesome and nutritious, and will not pre-dispose you to snacking throughout the day. This will help the body generate fuel in the form of energy for all activities, without sudden blood sugar spikes (hyperglycemia) or lows (hypoglycemia), which can lead to binge eating or going for long stretches without food, both of which are unnatural and harmful.
With regard to how to eat, most people grab a meal on the run, or eat while watching television, or while catching up with friends in the midst of countless distractions. Ayurveda recommends that a meal is a sacred ritual and must be had in peaceful surroundings, in a calm and stress-free manner and state of mind, for the full benefits of the food to accrue to the person eating the meal.
When the state of mind is relaxed, the digestive process works efficiently and the food nourishes the body the way it is meant to. Food ingested should ideally nourish the mind, body and soul and the benefits of eating in the right environment will naturally nourish the mental, physical and spiritual needs of the individual, rather than just address physical hunger.
When these guidelines of eating are adhered to, natural body detoxification and cleansing will be better carried out by one's system.
However, in the world we live in today, the aforementioned seldom happens, and as a result of wrong eating habits, lack of exercise, and stress factors, toxins build up to high levels, leading to a state of physical breakdown, manifesting through disease. Detoxification helps to reverse this process, and aids the body's natural healing mechanisms to work more efficiently to restore health and regeneration.
The process of detoxification involves giving the body a rest, cleansing it, and nourishing it both internally and externally. By a process of elimination, toxins are removed and nutrients are provided to the body, thereby imparting the dual benefits of resistance to disease and renewing the body's ability to establish optimum health and functionality.
