A note about Carpal Tunnel Prevention Tips

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

The good news is that by making a few lifestyle changes, you can not only prevent carpal tunnel syndrome, but you can actually save yourself a lot of pain and potential debilitation.

As is often said when it comes to health ailments, prevention is better than cure. Thus, the best time to start working on carpal tunnel prevention is before you wind up even suffering from the first tingling finger. This could mean never letting yourself get the habits that so many carpal tunnel sufferers have.

Many people think that they can only get carpal tunnel syndrome by doing work on a computer, but this isn’t necessarily the case. Remember that your wrist is the smallest joint on the body, but it winds up carrying the most weight. This means that when you’re lifting weights, you are putting yourself at risk of getting carpal tunnel syndrome; when you play video games, it’s the same story.

If you do yard work, cooking, cleaning or playing sports, you are likely straining your wrists and fingers, which is again the main cause of carpal tunnel syndrome. Many of us do most or all of these things on a regular basis, so it’s no wonder that so many people are winding up with this problem.

Here are some carpal tunnel prevent tips and strategies.

  • Before you sit down to work on the computer, play a video game or do anything that might put your wrists at any sort of odd angle for any long period of time, stretch the joint out. By simply doing this every day, you can take huge strides in carpal tunnel prevention. Start by stretching your hand back at a 90 degree angle until you feel a gentle stretch at the underside of your wrist.

  • When you’re working out or doing any kind of weight bearing work, make sure to wear wrist braces. These will help to ensure that your wrist has the support it needs when bearing weight.

  • Consider using more hand-friendly computers and equipment. Make sure that your chair is at a comfortable height so that you can keep your wrists straighter when using a keyboard. Invest in things like an ergonomic keyboard before you suffer from any kinds of pain or numbness. Also consider using a vertical mouse to help keep your thumbs in a more natural position.

  • For carpal tunnel prevention, you should also make sure that your hands, arms and fingers are flexible. It’s also a good idea to work in making sure these parts of your body are strong, too. There are exercises you can do daily to ensure that you won’t be overworking your hands and wrists. Take frequent breaks during the day to exercise your hands. This gives your tired wrists and fingers a break and helps the tendons in the wrist to relax.

This ailment doesn’t have to happen to you if you learn how to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome and take the necessary steps to do so. With a little time and effort spent each day for carpal tunnel prevention, you could keep at bay a possibly debilitating problem in the long run.
