Current Asthma Treatment Using Conventional Medicine - For Information

by Webmaster, All4NaturalHealth.com

What are the current asthma treatment methods? How is asthma treated using conventional medical principles and protocols? Please note that, generally speaking, we do not encourage the use of pharmaceutical medications as treatment for chronic diseases. The information compiled and presented on this page is only for general knowledge purposes.

Conventional asthma treatment typically involves the use of drug medications to dilate the lung airways. Such drugs are called bronchodilators. Medical therapy also includes the use of inhaled corticosteroids.

As far as over the counter drugs are concerned, options include oral expectorant combinations which contain ephedrine, as well as inhalers which contain epinephrine.

Part of current asthma treatment also includes prescription drugs. For acute asthma attacks, inhaled drugs such as albuterol, salmeterol and metaproterenol are usually used. For preventing or relieving acute symptoms, oral theophylline and oral corticosteroids like prednisone and prednisolone are used.

A note about Current Asthma Treatment Using Conventional Medicine - For Information

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

What is the current asthma treatment for longer term management and control? For such a purpose, different types of drugs are used. Inhaled corticosteroids such as budesonide, flunisolide, fluticasone and triamcinolone are used. In addition, oral leukotriene receptor antagonists such as montelukast and zafirlukast are also used.

The abovementioned are some drugs used by conventional medicine in the management, control and treatment of asthma. However, just as is the case for many chronic and degenerative diseases, conventional current asthma treatment modalities fail to address the root causes of the ailments, and only looks towards the control of symptoms.

In fact, very often, current asthma treatment and modern medicine in general are not only inadequate, but in fact serve to worsen the condition in the long run. This is certainly true for asthma.

For example, steroids which are used to treat asthma impair immune system function and can, in the long term, do untold damage to the body. If consumed by children, steroidal drugs can negatively affect growth as well as sexual maturation. They also promote yeast infections. On top of that, steroids are associated with many withdrawal symptoms, including feeling faint, extreme fatigue, heart palpitations, etc. Could steroids also be responsible for weak bones and adrenal insufficiency?

Another example is theophylline, which has a whole host of potential side effects, including irritability, nausea, over-excitement, stimulation of the central nervous system, and sleeplessness. And we do not even know for sure what the detrimental long-term effects are.

Further, chemically inducing the dilation of the bronchial passages can in the long run harm these airways. As you can see, current asthma treatments using medical protocols do not sound too safe or attractive.

If you or a loved one suffers from asthma, it is an extremely good idea for you to explore safer and natural means of healing your body, before exposing it to these powerful and often dangerous chemical drugs.

For a good idea of how to treat asthma effectively, a comprehensive and holistic protocol which covers prevention and true healing, and which also considers lifestyle, environmental and dietary factors, must be undertaken. A weak immune system and body is a lot more susceptible to asthma than a strong system, and boosting the cleanliness and strength of one's bodily systems is critical for preventing and overcoming this disease.
