Dandelion Recipes to Obtain its Health Benefits

The health benefits of dandelion can be obtained via some dandelion recipes as well as certain methods of consumption and administration.

Dandelion herbs and roots can be used in its fresh form or dried form. It is available in the form of pills, tablets, capsules, salves, dandelion tinctures, and pastes.

A note about Dandelion Recipes to Obtain its Health Benefits

Herbs are God and nature's gifts to us. While the use of herbs and herb remedies has brought excellent results for many people, do note that their health benefits may be limited when they are used in isolation. However, when combined with some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition, the impact on one's health will be greatly magnified.

In natural health and healing, we believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases. We also believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man’s understanding. It is thus a good idea to apply these fundamental health steps no matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem.

There are some very famous preparations of dandelion, which are dandelion root tea, dandelion leaf tea, dandelion flower tea, dandelion wine, dandelion juice, dandelion salad, and dandelion root coffee. These are indeed interesting dandelion uses.

Dandelion Root Tea or Dandelion Tea Recipe


  • 2 cups roasted dandelion root
  • 1 spoonful cinnamon powder
  • 1 spoonful ginger root
  • 2 spoonful cardamom seeds
  • Honey
  • Milk


  • Simmer the first four ingredients mentioned above on a medium flame for about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Strain the tea using a fine filter.
  • To this add one cup of milk and a spoonful of honey.
  • Heat again on a low flame and do not boil.
  • This can be served chilled or hot.

    Dandelion Flower Tea Recipe

    Here is a simple and easy dandelion recipe to make dandelion flower tea, another form of dandelion tea.

  • All you have to do is chop a handful of flower tops of the dandelion herb; remember not to include the green parts.
  • Steep them in a cup of water for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Add a little sweetener of your choice and your cup of dandelion tea is ready.

    One of the key benefits of dandelion tea is that it has a great detoxification effect on the liver.

    Dandelion Salad Recipe

    Here is a simple dandelion recipe which you can add to your meals to obtain the health benefits of dandelion.


  • ½ lbs tender dandelion greens
  • ½ onion
  • 2 tomatoes
  • ½ bell pepper
  • salt and pepper to taste


  • Stir fry the finely chopped onions, finely cut dandelion green, sliced tomatoes, and shredded bell pepper.
  • Allow it to cool, mix well salt and coarsely ground pepper.

    Dandelion Root Coffee Recipe

    With the help of a weed popper, take out dandelion roots. Wash them well and take about 25 tap roots to prepare one cup of dandelion roasted root coffee.

    Pat the wet roots dry and spread them on a cookie sheet. Roast them for about 2 hours and 30 minutes at 200 degree F. Once they look dark brown and dry, stop roasting them. Now grind them in a grinder.

    Use the ground roasted roots of dandelion to prepare the coffee. For one cup of roasted dandelion root coffee you might need to use two tablespoons of ground dandelion root.

    Dandelion root coffee makes for wonderful beverage dandelion recipes. It is caffeine free and is a great herbal remedy for bowel function, detox, and weight reduction!

    Dandelion Wine Recipe

    Here is a dandelion wine recipe for making dandelion wine. If you take a look around the internet, there are also other types of dandelion wine recipes.


  • 2 qts dandelion flowers
  • 2 lbs 9 ozs granulated sugar
  • 3 oranges
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 gallon spring water
  • 5 stems of saffron
  • yeast and nutrient


  • Sort out only the dandelion petals leaving out any other parts of the flower.
  • Heat water and pour over the flowers in a ceramic container, then cover with cloth.
  • Allow this to steep for two days.
  • After two days, heat this again up to boiling point.
  • Now add the saffron stems, orange and lemon rind only. Keep the orange and lemon pulp aside for extracting the juice, which needs to be added later. Boil again for about 10 minutes.
  • Strain using a good filter or cloth into another container adding sugar and stir till all the sugar granules have dissolved.
  • When cool, mix orange and lemon juice, yeast and yeast nutrients.
  • Pour into fermentation vessel, fit fermentation trap, let it ferment for about five to six months.

    Dandelion and Burdock

    There is one more extremely interesting herbal cocktail, if one can call it that, prepared using dandelion and burdock. This dandelion recipe is a traditional British soft drink and is also referred to as dandelion-burdock beer. It is prepared by fermenting dandelion and burdock roots.

    This drink is commercially available, but of course those would hardly be beneficial for health as the ingredients are not likely to be of good quality. They also contain carbonated water, sugar syrup or aspartame, etc.
