A note about Homemade Wrinkle Cream - Tips for Making Your Own Skin Cream

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

Or, you could still be struggling with acne, but you find that you are in need of a cream that will effectively fight your early signs of aging. Why not try making your own wrinkle cream that could help your skin to be beautiful, soft and line free?

The basics

Before you begin to make a homemade wrinkle cream, you need to know that there are some elements which a good cream will require. Without these, you will find that your wrinkle cream falls flat and doesn't moisturize the way you might like.

So, before you even consider making your own cream to fight your wrinkles, here are the elements that any good cream needs to have.

  • You'll need a water base, to keep any cream from being too heavy. Plus, water helps to hydrate. Consider "waters" that have great benefits, such as rose water, aloe juice or glycerin.

  • For your homemade wrinkle cream, you'll also need an oil base. This helps to give the skin added moisture and the water and oil bind to create an "emulsion". Less heavy than a thick cream, but moisturizing. Consider using an oil base that has healthy skin benefits, such as grape seed oil, jojoba oil, or evening primrose oil. All of these oils have great skin benefits, such as offering soothing and redness reducing properties.

  • You'll also need an emulsifier, to help the oil and water to bind and create a creamy texture. You can consider using a wax or something such as soy lecithin, which is self binding.

  • Also, for your homemade skin cream, consider a preservative such as a powder or liquid to help maintain shelf life for a couple of weeks. Possible ingredients to use for this purpose are rosemary oil extract or grapefruit seed extract. If you want the product to last longer, consider using an artificial preservative.

  • You can add ingredients such as green tea extract, honey, vitamin A, vitamin E, or essential oils to your homemade wrinkle cream according to your skin's needs, but don't add more than two.

Cream or treatment?

The thing to look out for when you're seeking homemade wrinkle cream recipes is whether you're being given an idea for a homemade treatment that can help to moisturize your skin and keep it looking fresh and hydrated, or if you're really going to be able to make a cream which you can use day after day.

For instance, you might find a recipe for homemade wrinkle cream that recommends you mash up an avocado and mix it with almond oil. Admittedly, this will be a wonderful treatment that you can use to help moisturize dry, dehydrated skin, but then you will want to rinse it off, so consider your personal needs when choosing recipes for homemade creams.

The bottom line with homemade wrinkle creams is to consider what you are looking for and what your skin care needs are. Remember that if you are seeking a cream which you can use day after day, you don't want to use food items.

However, if you are looking for a wrinkle cream that will serve as a treatment which you can wash off after a period of time, you can use some of the many wonderful recipes which use raw food ingredients for excellent results.
