A note about Acupuncture for IBS TreatmentIn natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases. In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. Taking these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of certain holistic remedies. Some of the reasons that are responsible for this condition or could worsen the condition include poor diet, drugs, hormones, emotional imbalances, stress, anxiety, depression, etc. Traditional Chinese Medicine, or TCM, refers to IBS as a condition where the liver invades the spleen. The primary function of the liver is to ensure effective and smooth flow of energy or qi in the human body. This energy flow helps all other systems and organs in the body to function efficiently. If the liver experiences imbalance, all other organs get affected by this. In the case of IBS, the spleen is not able to function optimally. The liver generally gets affected by certain emotional factors like anger, frustration and resentment. Increasing stress levels and decreasing exercise or activity levels will stagnate or obstruct the flow of energy of qi in the liver and this will have a ripple effect on all other organs. This obstruction or stagnation of energy results in all the symptoms described above. Imbalance or disharmony between the liver and the spleen will result in constipation on the one hand and diarrhea on the other. Therefore, acupuncture for IBS treatment will concentrate on releasing the blocked energy at the level of the liver and focus on smooth energy flow between the liver and spleen. Various trigger points in the human body which are related to the flow of energy to the liver and spleen will be assessed and, at these key points, fine and thin needles will be inserted and manipulated to ensure all the blocked energy is released. Although patients will experience considerable relief from symptoms post the first session of acupuncture for IBS, it is important to attend the entire treatment plan to experience relief for a long period of time.
