Indirect heat therapy or Moxa treatment which includes the use of an herb called Moxa could also be applied to certain trigger points. This is an attempt to improve circulation to the local tissue and bring about a relaxed response.

Acupuncture needling stimulation is then applied to the neck and shoulder muscles in an attempt to release and relax muscular tightness. Low-frequency electric acupuncture treatment could also be considered as a treatment modality to treat neck pain, since this method of acupuncture was found to be equally effective.
