A note about Acupuncture for Neck Pain Treatment
In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.
In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. Taking these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of certain holistic remedies.
Studies suggest that acupuncture involving the stimulation of one or more specific points in the body, by inserting and maneuvering extremely fine and sharp needles does reduce symptoms of neck pain.
Acupuncture includes manipulating trigger points by other forms, such as by using electrical stimulations and herbs using moxibustion. These methods have also proven to be extremely effective in treating acute and chronic neck pain. Also, another form of acupuncture called injection acupuncture has also proven to be effective where herbal medicines are injected into the trigger points along with the maneuvering of needles.
As also described for back pain, neck pain conditions result from two key factors. The first of these factors is constant mechanical injury or strain, with the second being psychological factors like stress and anxiety. Therefore, for any acupuncture for neck pain treatment, it is important to focus on both aspects of the condition before treating the symptoms.
Due to increase in stress levels, most of us have chronic parasympathetic inhibition and increased sympathetic stimulation (common symptoms include: irritability, insomnia, cold hands, feet, digestive problems, palpitations). Therefore, acupuncture for neck pain treatment commences by bringing about a balance in the central nervous system.
Thus, a parasympathetic stimulation method also known as SES is employed. Indirect heat therapy or Moxa treatment which includes the use of an herb called Moxa could also be applied to certain trigger points. This is an attempt to improve circulation to the local tissue and bring about a relaxed response.
Acupuncture needling stimulation is then applied to the neck and shoulder muscles in an attempt to release and relax muscular tightness. Low-frequency electric acupuncture treatment could also be considered as a treatment modality to treat neck pain, since this method of acupuncture was found to be equally effective.
