Essential Oil Skin CareEssential oil skin care usage has been around for a long time. Indeed, essential oils have been used in cosmetic applications almost since the dawn of time - one need only call Cleopatra and other denizens of the ancient world to mind. Essential oils restore vitality to delicate skin tissues and facilitate the removal of dead skin cells. In addition, they regulate the capillaries and promote regeneration of new healthy skin cells.

A note about Essential Oil Skin CareIn natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases. In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. Taking these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of certain holistic remedies. Essential oils can be used in compresses, masks, facial steam baths, and body wraps. They can also be added to creams, lotions, gels, and perfumes. Wondering how exactly to carry out essential oil skin care? Begin with a facial massage to open the pores and activate capillary circulation. Continue with a careful cleaning using cleansing lotion, compress, or facial steam bath (People with a blotchy complexion or acne rosacea should avoid the steam as it can cause more broken capillaries). Close the pores with a compress containing cypress, juniper or bergamot, and protect the skin with a moisturizing cream or oil (such as aloe vera). Essential oils for general skin care include chamomile, carrot, geranium, lavender, lemon, and ylang ylang. As part of essential oil skin care, various skin conditions can be treated as follows:
To rejuvenate skin, use a preparation containing chamomile, frankincense, geranium, lavender, myrrh, cedarwood, rosemary or carrot. If you have sensitive skin, use floral water rather than essential oil, as the pure oil can be too harsh an application for skin that seeks a milder approach. Floral water spray will feel especially refreshing. Other treatments include facial steam baths, facial compresses, masks and aromatic body wraps. About 5 drops of essential oil should be used in each of these applications. Masks can be made with an oatmeal base. Allow the mask to stay on for about 15 minutes, and gently remove with a soft wet sponge. As you can see, there are several ways to carry out aromatherapy or essential oil skin care.
