California poppy is an herb that can be located in several different herbal remedies. It acts as a natural sedative and is one of the most popular herbs for insomnia relief. Not only does it help promote sleep, but it can also act as a relaxer and as a reliever for mild anxiety. It can help you achieve sleep quickly and improve the quality of your sleep once you arrive there.

St. John's Wort has a variety of uses and can be taken to help with insomnia, as well as with depression. It has been used since ancient Greek times and, today, it has been shown to help restore certain chemical balances within the brain. It could take several weeks before you get the full effectiveness of this herb, however, so don't expect to see immediate results right away. In addition, it can cause sensitivity to sunlight, so avoiding direct sunlight is advised.

If you are experiencing insomnia with pregnancy, then it is wise to consult your physician or health care practitioner before taking any herbs for insomnia relief. Some herbs, including those used in bath oils and in aromatherapy, can be harmful to pregnant women, and it's best to be cautious in this area.
