A note about Normal Triglyceride Levels - Healthy Range of Readings

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

What Is Considered Normal?

In order to be considered to have the healthy level of triglycerides, you should have a reading that's less than 150 mg/dL. If you are between 150 and 199 mg/dL, then you're considered to be borderline high, and if you're between 200 and 499 mg/dL, then you're rated as having elevated or high triglycerides.

Those who surpass this and move into the 500+ range are classified as very high and will really want to take drastic measures to bring them down if they want to promote good health and prevent serious disease.

How To Prepare To Get Assessed

In order to find out if you have normal triglyceride levels or where else you may fall on the scale just discussed, you're going to have to go for a blood test. In order for this test to be accurate, you are not to eat for eight to twelve hours before the test is taken, and should avoid using all types of drugs. This should be discussed with your doctor prior to preparing for the test in case there are certain medication drugs that you cannot come off.

The most common drugs that may cause problems include beta blockers, cholestyramine, estrogens, protease inhibitors, birth control pills, and antipsychotics.

In some cases, the doctor will recommend you discontinue using the medication for the time being, while in other cases it will be permitted.

Getting The Test

When getting the test to see if you have normal triglyceride levels, it will feel very much the same as a regular needle, with a small prick-like feeling on the skin. Be sure you try and relax throughout the test, so as to relax the muscles, as that will also help to reduce the amount of discomfort you experience.

The Readings

If the reading is normal, then you are well on your way to looking after your health. If you do not have a normal triglyceride level, though, then it's important to thoroughly go over the results with your doctor. The most common reasons for having increased levels of triglycerides are a high cholesterol diet, uncontrolled diabetes, hypothyroidism, familial hyperlipidemias, or myocardial infarction.

Your doctor should be able to help you make an assessment of what's causing your levels to be high, and then recommend an appropriate treatment protocol.

By regularly checking your levels to make sure you are within the healthy range and have normal triglyceride levels, you will help prevent problems from starting and can take immediate action if they do happen to move into an unhealthy range.

So, are your readings within the range of normal triglyceride levels? If not, you would probably want to take steps to lower your elevated triglycerides. Learn how to deal with and reduce high triglycerides naturally by reading the other related triglycerides articles and pages.
