A note about Natural Psoriasis Remedies to Try

In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.

In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.

Although typically sufferers are warned to stay out of the sun, light therapy can actually be used to help psoriasis in some cases. While some people opt to visit a tanning salon for short doses of light therapy, the effects can be duplicated by exposing your skin to sunlight as well, specifically UVB rays. You want to reduce your risk of sun damage by only exposing the affected skin in short doses, of course, and it might take several weeks to see the true effects of this.

Using heavy natural moisturizers can also be beneficial at locking in moisture and re-hydrating your skin. It is best to apply moisturizers as soon as you get out of the bath, while your skin is still damp. Avoid putting on clothing until the moisturizer has dried so that it doesn't rub off. Good ingredients to look for in these natural psoriasis remedies include vitamin E, cocoa butter, and aloe vera.

Another useful natural psoriasis remedy is taking a bath in Epsom salt or seawater, which can also be soothing. In addition, it can help loosen up some of the scales, too, so that they come off easily.

If you have psoriasis of the scalp, using a shampoo with coal tar in it should be beneficial. There is no need to worry about this shampoo being black, especially with the word "tar" in it. Coal tar is actually one of the most popular psoriasis remedies, and shampoo containing the substance can be found at many health food stores.

There are several different supplements that have proven to be effective psoriasis remedies for some people. These include turmeric, primrose oil, and zinc. Omega-3 can also be helpful when it comes to psoriasis, too. You can also find this at most health food stores.

The use of buttermilk has been known to soothe and help dry up psoriasis. It can be put directly onto the skin in liquid form, or mixed with flour in order to create a paste that is more evenly distributed.

Sometimes, stress can be a trigger when it comes to psoriasis outbreaks, as can infections such as strep throat. Treat a sore throat or illness as soon as you begin to experience symptoms. Likewise, learning to find outlets for your stress can be a good way to take control of your mental health and your psoriasis at the same time. Practicing journal writing, yoga, meditation, and getting plenty of fresh air and exercise are all keys to living a healthier lifestyle.

There are some types of psoriasis, such as Erythrodermic psoriasis, which can be very serious. If you have a serious form of psoriasis, then be sure to have a health care practitioner monitor it. A strain can be placed on your heart and you can even suffer from dehydration if it is not treated properly. However, in most cases, natural methods are still very effective as psoriasis remedies.
