A note about Anti Stress Tea - Unwinding with Tea
In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.
In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.
The feel of the heat in the throat, the steam and scent permeating the air is an incomparable sensory experience. As such, it is difficult not to finish a cup of tea with a more relaxed state of mind than the one with which you began.
Although subjectively the ability of tea to reduce stress has been known for centuries, there is not a great deal of literature on the stress tea connection. One idea is that the caffeine in the tea may contribute to heightened brain activation and mood, therefore increasing one's ability to cope with stress.
Another thought is that there may be something exclusive to tea that alters the brain's mechanisms that deal with feelings of stress. Though we do not yet know what this ingredient may be, it does seem to be true that there is something special about tea that causes people to respond differently to stressors.
In one study, one group was given a fake tea substitute whilst another drank black tea. Both groups were confronted with stressful situations; whilst there were not significant differences in reaction to the stressful stimuli, it was discovered that the (real) tea-drinking group calmed down more quickly, returning to a normal state after the stressful stimuli more promptly than the placebo group. This study certainly suggests an interesting stress tea connection.
There are many different types of tea that may contribute to stress relief. One study cites the role of black tea in reducing distress; others proclaim the benefits of herbal tea in managing stress.
Some herbal teas that are recommended as anti stress teas are lavender, skullcap, chamomile, passion flower, oatstraw, wood betony, and lemon balm.
There are also many teas marketed as "stress relief" blends. All of these teas are certainly worth a try, as there has not been a great deal of research done on this subject, so what works for one person may not be effective for another. As more research is done to investigate the stress-relieving benefits of tea, it will become clearer which teas are most beneficial in curing chronic stress.
We all struggle with feelings of stress at times, and tea is an excellent stress reliever. Not only is it unique in its ability to promote feelings of peacefulness, relaxation, and ease, but it is one of the most natural remedies one could choose - particularly when the anti stress tea is organic!
An additional reason to use tea to help relieve stress is the fact that it has been suggested as a way to reduce one's risk of a number of illnesses. Regardless of the type of anti stress tea you choose to use, exploring tea as a way to cure excessive stress is an excellent option, and one that you're sure to enjoy!
