A note about Home Remedies for Yeast Infections - Useful Herbal and Other Natural Treatments
In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.
In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.
Addressing your diet is one of the first places that you should start when dealing with yeast infections. Fermented foods and sugars should be eliminated, since they can cause an overgrowth of yeast in your intestinal tract. Instead, add yogurt to your diet. Yogurt can help fight bacteria when you consume it.
You can also apply yogurt topically. Using a cotton ball or cotton pad, you can apply it directly to your vaginal area. You can also alternatively dip a tampon in yogurt and insert it into your vagina. However, it is important to remove it almost immediately, since leaving a tampon in when you are not menstruating can be dangerous. You just want to leave it in long enough for some of the yogurt to have the chance to rub off.
When using yogurt as home remedies for yeast infection treatment, you don't want to use the nice, berry flavored yogurt that comes in the little containers and taste only a few notches away from ice cream or pudding. Instead, you want to use plain, unsweetened yogurt that has active cultures in it. It is the active bacterial cultures that will help fight off the infection.
Drinking cranberry juice can also be a good way of preventing a yeast infection from forming, as well as treating the infection once it's here. As home remedies for yeast infections, you want to drink pure unsweetened cranberry juice and not the bottled kind which can be full of sugars and corn syrup. You can also dilute the juice as well.

Using apple cider vinegar can be a good way of treating the infection as well. You can apply the vinegar directly onto the affected area. To stop the area from itching, you can also add garlic to the vinegar. If the vinegar is too strong and irritates your skin, you might want to try diluting it with some water first.
Garlic can also be taken in capsule form, too, and this can be a good way of treating a yeast infection. This is particularly helpful if you don't necessarily like the taste of garlic, or if you aren't big on the idea of using crushed garlic cloves in and around your vagina, which is another of the possible home remedies for yeast infections.
Lastly, tea tree oil can be used as a douche treatment. You can combine 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil with 1 teaspoon of rubbing alcohol. Mix the solution and then insert it into a small dropper bottle. Then, add 10 drops of the solution into a pint of water and mix well. Use the douche once a day for a week. Make sure that you don't add anymore alcohol than the 1 teaspoon, or else you will definitely feel some burning and it can be painful.
It is not advisable that you use the tea tree oil during pregnancy. In fact, you should probably consult a physician if you have a yeast infection during pregnancy to ensure that the natural treatment, or any other type of treatment, that you are using is safe.
