A note about Natural Yeast Infection Remedies - Treatments for Relief
In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.
In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.
This fungi is naturally found all over the body in warm and moist areas, with studies showing anywhere from 20% to 50% of all women carry yeast in the vaginal area without the presence of noticeable symptoms. When the fungus multiplies to the point of infection in various areas of the body - the vagina, throat or esophagus, there can be inflammation and irritation, discharge, odor, itching and, in the case of the throat, a white coating on the tongue.
Bacterium is common to the colon and vagina but is kept under control by friendly flora (beneficial or good bacteria) that lives in those areas as well. It is when the balance of the essential microorganisms becomes upset that an infection occurs. This can take place with the use of certain medications; with certain diseases such as diabetes, which lowers the glycogen of cells as well as raises sugar content and PH; or when changes in hormone levels occur.
Steroid use affects the chemical as well as the hormone levels in the body. Factors such as a weakened immune system (from steroid use), cancer chemotherapy or other such treatments can disrupt the natural balance of the system, with symptoms including irritation, redness, tenderness, burning and itching all normal. In women, a vaginal discharge that may or may not have an odor can occur, and intercourse can be painful. In men, the symptoms most often include itching and a penile rash.
Antifungal herbs and home remedies are typically just as efficient in treating yeast infections as over the counter or prescribed medications. These natural yeast infection remedies are generally gentler than commercial remedies and can be safely combined with other treatments for quicker results.
So what are some of these natural yeast infection remedies?
Raw garlic can be liquefied in a blender or very finely mashed with a fork and applied to the affected area with a cotton swab three times a day. Chamomile, an herbal fungicidal, can be effective as it has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties as well. It can be used either externally or taken internally in tea form. Chamomile tea can also be used in a sitz bath.
What other herbal yeast infection remedies are there?
Use a tincture containing black walnut (antifungal) that is often prepared with antibacterial herbal extracts such as lavender or valerian. Apply as directed. Or use five drops each: lavender and tea tree essential oils added to a small bottle with distilled water to treat yeast infections topically. Shake each time you use, repeating four times a day till the infection clears.
Another of the home yeast infection remedies is a vinegar douche, which is an old stand-by in aiding in the restoration of the acidic balance to the vagina, as well as in clearing up vaginal infection. Do this by adding 1 teaspoon of vinegar to 1 quart of warm water.
Incorporate yogurt and honey to your diet. Yogurt contains beneficial bacteria that will help to combat the harmful bacteria, while honey has antibacterial properties. Drink plenty of water every day - this is an important step in using natural or home yeast infection remedies. Water cleanses the body, hydrates the cells and flushes out impurities.
