A note about Arthritis in Feet - Tips for Prevention and Recovery
In natural health and healing, we believe in holistic health and healing, as we realize that different parts of the human body are highly interlinked, often beyond Man's understanding. We also believe that the body has the ability to heal itself of any disease, even supposedly incurable diseases.
In order to do so, the body needs the support of some basic dietary and lifestyle good health habits, such as a full body detox and a proper understanding and application of nutrition. No matter how remote or unrelated a health condition may seem, these fundamental health steps will greatly magnify the effects and benefits of any of our health-promoting efforts, including the use of specific natural health remedies.
These are reasons why we should do all that we can to keep our feet healthy, and, for those who already have arthritis, our condition under control.
Arthritis in feet can also include the ankle joints, which are also a high-risk area for arthritis due to its constant use and the amount of daily wear and tear on the joint. Some cases of arthritis in feet are linked to a family history of arthritis, while the majority of cases are caused by excess wear and tear or traumatic injury to the feet.
The sad thing is that these latter cases are often preventable with some diligence and awareness. The excess wear and tear is often due to excess weight that puts undue stress on the feet, and excess weight is something that all of us should be on top of not only to prevent or manage arthritis, but also to help prevent other diseases that are directly linked to being overweight or obese.
If you consider that your feet carry your body weight all through your life, thats already quite a bit of strain on your little bones and joints, but then add to that an extra 10 pounds or more and youre really making your feet work harder than they were meant to.
Even if you are already suffering from arthritis in feet, losing excess weight will still be extremely beneficial in treating your arthritis and managing pain. For some, it has even been shown to eliminate it completely.
Other methods that have proven helpful in treating arthritis are the use of shoe inserts or orthotics which encourage proper weight distribution through proper positioning.
Further, physical therapy is also a proven effective method for treating arthritis in feet, because it improves circulation, which in turn reduces swelling and relieves stiffness.
And while anti-inflammatory medications are often recommended, a great alternative is the use of an ice pack, which also reduces inflammation without the nasty gastrointestinal side effects that can come from using anti-inflammatory medicines.
For those who have just started to notice some swelling or pain in the feet, diagnosing arthritis in feet as quickly as possible will give you the best chance of treating it properly and stopping it from getting worse. The sooner its found, the sooner you can start making the right changes to treat your condition. Nipping it in the bud almost guarantees you the chance to stop it in its tracks, so that you may never have to suffer the severe pain and deformity that is a very real possibility with feet arthritis.
