Do you often feel sluggish, suffer from digestive issues, lack energy, or just simply feel "toxic" and under the weather? If so, it may be time for you to put in some effort in detoxifying your body.

Some parties, particularly detractors of natural healing, may ridicule the idea of cleansing and detoxification, perhaps claiming it is not possible to "detoxify" the body because it already carries that out on a daily basis.

Well, persons who do not believe in detoxification, or that environmental toxins can accumulate in the body, have probably never come across various evidence, such as research studies and individual laboratory reports, which indicate the numerous harmful substances which can get lodged in our bodies. Neither have they experienced the wonderful rejuvenation after a good detox program.

In a way, they are right - the body does carry out detoxification on a daily basis. And it does a mighty good job, too. But imagine if you continually flood your bathroom with more wastes than the drainage hole can manage - it's going to get clogged, and the result is a very dirty bathroom indeed.

That's what happens in our bodies, too. Every day, on top of the wastes the body normally creates in its day-to-day functions - from digesting food, cellular respiration, etc - it now also has to deal with the hundreds of thousands of harmful chemicals in our living environment.

From the polluted air we breath, to the preservatives and additives in our food, to the chemicals in our shampoos and soaps, etc, we are continually ingesting, inhaling, and absorbing many harmful toxins. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that, in the long run, after the body's elimination channels get choked, the result is a toxic body and hence disease.

Because of increasing awareness, there are literally thousands of detoxification products on the market today. Some promise you no work at all - you do not need to give up any food, exercise, or change your lifestyle in anyway; instead, you just need to pop a pill, go to sleep, and your body magically detoxifies itself of decades of accumulated toxins.

Trust your instincts - do you think such products are going to bring effective and long-lasting results? Where has the reliance on "quick-fixes" brought our society today, both in terms of health and other aspects (e.g. finance)?
